college.

So I've been in college for 3 days now... and I'll have to say is its a lot harder then high school. That's for sure!

Here's some pics of my oh so spacious room:

Here is what I walked into when i opened the door (minus the sheets and the bags.)

This is my so called desk. I have made a few changes to it... like not putting my laundry basket up there.
The closet.... almost as big as my one at home.
Pictures that I printed out to decorate :) I also put some on my bulletin board.

I love my room to tell you the truth.. its really really small but I'm used to it now. Besides the hours of homework, even though its been like 3 days, its been way fun! Especially hanging out in the game room playing dance central! That is the most amazing game ever! I would highly recommend it.

well i hope you all are doing great!!

love nani.

Alex's Lemonade Stand.

For those of you who haven't yet heard of this amazing little girl here it is:

Alex was almost one when they found her cancer, the doctors said that she wouldn't be able to walk if they beat her cancer but by her 2nd birthday she was crawling and learning to walk. But within the next year the doctors found that her tumors were growing back again. The day after her 4th birthday she told her mom, "when I get out of the hospital I want to have a lemonade stand." She told her mom that she was going to give the money to the doctors so they could help other kids like they helped her. Her first lemonade stand that she had she raised $2000 dollars for "her hospital." She held her lemonade stand every year and other kids around the nation started to as well donating all the money they made. In 2004 little Alex died when she was 8. Her lemonade stands and others raised over 1 million dollars.

That is so amazing to me that this little girl, who was suffering from the beginning of her life till the end, only cared for the other little kids that had the same disease that she had. She was sooo full of service. I think i'm going to have a lemonade stand.

So dear alex, you are one of my new heroes and such an amazing example to me.

If you want to read more of her story or even volunteer just check it out here. :)

love, nani.

Charity.

"Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don't judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone's differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn't handle the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another's weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best of each other." -marvin j. ashton

I decided that I really need to work on this exact thing. I didn't really read that hand out till I typed in down on here and it hit me that this is what I need to work on. This is a great quote and I'm going to learn how to be loving and accepting of everyone. AND TO EXPECT THE BEST OF OTHERS encouraging them to reach their best.

p.s. The picture above is of my little sister Pami. She is the sweetest and most charitable one in our family.. and my little twin. :) i love her.

a little about me.

Hello. My name is Kanani, I just graduated and can't wait for the adventures that I have in front of me. I come from a family of 9 people, 2 parents and 6 sisters and I couldn't ask to be a part of any other family. They are my best friends and my support. I am half white and half hawaiian. I am going to be attending BYU hawaii in about a week and am so excited. I want to major in Psychology and minor in Hawaiian studies, so we will see how that goes. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and it is one of the greatest blessings I've been given.
 Some facts:
  • my favorite color is aqua blue, like the ocean at Waimea.. BEAUTIFUL!
  • I love having all sisters, probably because I don't know what a brother is like.
  • I have a wonderful boyfriend. :)
  • I want to travel the world, starting with Africa, I'm going to start an Africa fund.
  • I would love to live in New Zealand.
  • I want to find more ways to do service.
  • I am going to get done with school in 3 years so I can serve a mission right when I'm 21.
  • I have the cutest niece and nephew in the universe.
  • Psychology is my favorite thing to learn about.
